MAX BLOOM

HARVARD GRADUATE + LAW CLERK

BIO

Max Bloom graduated from Harvard Law School earlier this year, after studying Math and English at University of Chicago. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy, as well as a member of the Federalist Society. Throughout his law school summers, Max worked in prestigious internship positions, such as for the Appellate Staff of the Civil Division of the Department of Justice. Max now works as a law clerk for Honorable J. Harvie Wilkinson III on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in the United States.

JESSICA ZITA

CRIMINAL LAWYER

BIO

Jessica Zita is a criminal defense lawyer who works as an appellate associate at Lockyer Posner Craig firm in Toronto. She received her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School after earning her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. Jessica has represented clients in jury trials at all levels of Canadian courts, up to the Supreme Court of Canada, and was recently appointed by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice as amicus curiae on a dangerous offender hearing.

Danielle Gallant received numerous degrees; an Honours Bachelor in International Development and Globalization, a Licentiate in Civil Law, and even a Master’s in Global Sustainability and Environmental Law, and now works on Ecojustice’s climate change team. She is a member of the Québec Bar, soon to be a member of the Ontario Bar as well. Danielle has experience working in many areas of law, including a previous internship at an international criminal tribunal in The Hague while studying abroad in Amsterdam.

Miriam Vale Peters is a partner at KMH Lawyers, involved in a wide spread of litigation practices, including contractual and insurance disputes, real estate, and employment and estate litigation. She received her Bachelor of Journalism and History, Combined Honours, from Carleton University, followed by her LL.B from Queens. As an experienced trial and appellate lawyer, Miriam has represented clients at all levels of court in Ontario, along with the Supreme Court of Canada.

EMILIE TAMAN

BIO

Emilie Taman is an Ottawa Employment Law Litigator, Human Rights Advocate, Educator & Community Organizer. After graduating from the Dalhousie school of law, Emilie has played an instrumental role in her advocacy for refugees in Canada. Due to her exemplary advocacy for accessible libraries, refugee resettlement, harm reduction, economic equality, affordable housing and climate action she was named in “The top 25 most influential list for 2018” by the Canadian lawyer magazine. She has been serving as a human rights lawyer for almost 15 years now and has represented her clients in every level of court in Ontario. In addition to this, she is also a law professor under the University of Ottawa Common Law. She is also a former federal NDP candidate, running in both the 2015 federal election and a 2017 by-election.

Lisa Marie Wagner is a personal injury lawyer from Nova Scotia and is an associate at the Wagner law firm. Having graduated from the Schulich school of law, she has been part of the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association, Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and the Law Society of British Columbia. Practicing law in both the west coast and the maritime, she has been a diligent lawyer for almost 8 years now.
